Our Story

See What It's Like at Campbell Street

How it all started...

Campbell Street was formed in 1984 by the merger of the East Chester Church of Christ and the Central Church of Christ. The newly formed congregation would meet at Central’s building located on Campbell Street in the midtown of Jackson. Two years later Campbell Street built a larger Worship Center on the same property and turned the original building into classrooms.

The first meeting of the Campbell Street Church of Christ took place on July 1, 1984 with 459 in attendance. Campbell Street has grown and expanded over the years but the spirit of cooperation that brought about the merger of these two congregations continues to define the Campbell Street congregation.

Expanding the vision...

Our mission is to “Know love and Be light.” Love and light are the two driving forces behind everything we do.

We love because God first loved us. To know love is to show love.
Jesus is the Light of the World and calls us to be light in a dark world.

Our vision is to mobilize the body of Christ to transform our community and change our culture. We transform as we are being transformed by the power of God’s Spirit living in us.

Where we are headed...

Our desire is to go where God is leading. God is writing our story and we are praying for discernment to see what God is doing in the world and the courage to join Him. We want to be what God wants us to be. We want to go where God is leading.
